En el marco de diversos procesos nacionales surgieron novedosas formas de organización, prácticas sociales y políticas entre las cuales figuran las de la Economía Social, Popular y Solidaria. De ese conjunto el artículo recorta las referidas a la asociatividad y autogestión en cooperativas de trabajo que en Argentina tienen una larga historia y que han tenido fuerte impulso debido a la promoción estatal en años recientes. El artículo se basa en un trabajo de campo cualitativo que indaga sobre el papel del Estado y las políticas que promovieron cooperativas de trabajo entre 2003/2015 y sus cambios a partir de ese momento. Propone reflexionar sobre los sentidos atribuidos a esta modalidad de trabajo por quienes lo llevan a cabo, la forma en quelo cuestionan y valoran; en síntesis, sobre su legitimidad social en tanto trabajo. Se pregunta también por los alcances y los límites de tales políticas en el desarrollo de la asociatividad y la autogestión y sobre la potencialidad de las experiencias vividas para resistir y dar respuesta al qué hacer desde la Economía Social, Popular, Solidaria ante los desafíos de los cambios políticos del presente.
