El objetivo de este trabajo es aportar a la idea de que la creación y gestión por parte de los sectores de la economía popular de una Moneda Social contribuye al fortalecimiento de la Economía Social y Solidaria (ESS), y provee al desarrollo sostenible de los emprendimientos asociados.En este sentido, sostenemos que la Moneda Social propicia cambios en las disposiciones sobre la producción y el trabajo, y colabora en la creación de un subsistema de ESS con una lógica diferente a la dominante, sostenida en el trabajo y en la búsqueda de la satisfacción intergeneracional de las necesidades legitimadas por una comunidad. Nuestro objeto de estudio estará delimitado por las experiencias de los mercados solidarios y la creación y utilización de moneda social en la Argentina, considerados como instituciones de la economía popular, que pueden participar en la construcción de una Economía Social y Solidaria (ESS). A partir de un abordaje multidisciplinario intentaremos dar cuenta de nuestra concepción de la moneda social, para luego centrarnos en dos experiencias que han sobrevivido a la crisis del 2001/2 -en la que la mayoría de los clubes de trueque colapsaron-, con el objetivo de analizar los indicios de cambios en las disposiciones que generan los sistemas monetarios alternativos, y su potencial en la construcción de una ESS.Nos interesa analizar los cambios que estas experiencias han tenido como prácticas de la economía popular en la búsqueda de una mayor autonomía y autogestión, participación y solidaridad, los cuales -como rasgos característicos de los subsistemas de ESS- conformarán nuestros indicios para estudiar el potencial de la Moneda Social en la promoción de la Economía Social y Solidaria (EES). Las experiencias de las que nos ocuparemos son el Banco de Horas Comunitario 'Olga Cossettini' y la 'Economía Naturalista de Venado Tuerto'.
