Se trata de un abordaje mixto (cualitativo y cuantitativo) de carácter exploratorio y descriptivo, utilizando investigación bibliográfica y documental. El método general elegido fue el Materialismo Sistémico (MS). El estudio muestra a la Economía Solidaria como instrumento de desarrollo territorial, dada su naturaleza socioeconómica, interdisciplinaria y su estatus de política pública. Queda en evidencia la importancia del apoyo de las instituciones que actúan en el campo de la educación, la ciencia y la tecnología a la organización social y territorial donde la asociación comunitaria indígena se presenta como locus de institucionalización de procesos de Gestión Social en la perspectiva de la autogestión, en sus aspectos económicos, sociales, políticos, culturales, ambientales y ecológicos, por donde deben transitar todos los esfuerzos de coalición de las instituciones públicas orientadasa la cuestión indígena, los organismos ejecutores de políticas sociales y productivas, además de otros interesados en el desarrollo territorial indígena.
